本丛书每册各单元分三个部分——Before Reading,During Reading和AfterReading:
●Before Reading包含两个读前思考问题,让学生在阅读材料前进行自我思考。还包含阅读文章以及对难词、生词的双语解释,并配有音标。
●During Reading主要包括在原版书基础上改编的各种丰富多样的阅读理解题,包括选择题、是非题等,难度逐级递增,帮助学生加深对文章的理解。
此外,在During Reading部分中还配有针对文章阅读策略的双语说明和解释,这也是本丛书的一大特色所在,它旨在让学生在阅读文章的同时学习有关阅读的各种技巧和策略,并通过一系列练习将这些阅读技巧和策略运用到阅读实践中。
●After Reading包含一些读后问题和由改编者精心设计的半开放或开放性练习,这些练习有助于学生在阅读过程结束时针对文章进行再思考,以加深他们对阅读文章及阅读策略的理解。
文摘 It was the first day of second grade. Mike Brown was excited. His teacher's name was Miss Clark. He already knew her from school.
Class started at 9: 00. The first thing they were told was to choose a desk. Then Miss Clark said, "I will read your names. When you hear your name, raise your hand and say 'Here'."
"Anna, Calvin, Kristen, Lucy, " she called. Mike waited for his name. "Marcia, Mike, " Miss Clark said out loud. Mike Brown raised his left hand and called out, "Here! " But his voice sounded very loud.
Mike Brown looked around and saw another boy raising his fight hand. "Oh my! " Miss Clark said. "It seems we have two Mikes in our class. Let's see how we'll tell them apart. "
All of the kids looked at the two Mikes. The two Mikes looked at each other. "Both boys are seven years old and are wearing shorts. Both boys are wearing long-sleeved shirts. Hmmm, " she said. Mike Brown was nervous. How would they not get mixed up?
Then the teacher said, "I know! Mike Holt has hazel eyes, and Mike Brown has black eyes. So Mike H. and Mike B., welcome to second grade! " Both Mikes giggled and knew that it was going to be a fun year.
It was the first warm Saturday in a long time. It had been a long cold winter, and it was finally over. Maria was happy for two reasons. First, it was the weekend, so there was no school. Second, there were big, fluffy, white clouds in the pretty blue sky.
Maria grabbed her drawing pad. She grabbed her pencil. She went outside. She put her drawing things down. She lay down on her back on the grass. She looked up to the sky and felt the warm sun on her face. She smiled at what she saw.
