《名著爱情精彩片段》取材于《简爱》、《傲慢与偏见》、《飘》等十余部广为流传的英美文学名著。本书将其中部分精彩的爱情对白和细腻的心理描写段落详加摘录，并译成中文。相信读者会从中吸取原汁原味的英语表达方式，提高自己的英语水平。本书按原著中爱情故事发展的顺序，粗略地划分为初恋、热恋、单恋、约会、失恋、分别、幻灭与觉醒等几个部分，以方便读者阅读和欣赏。
《名人情诗与情歌》既收录了莎士比亚、拜伦、华兹华斯等许多著名诗人的作品，也包括了一些脍炙人口、感情朴实、具有乡土风味的情歌。考虑到本书的读者对象是喜欢英文诗歌的广大青年和学生，书中增添了一些必要的注释。在翻译时，尽量采取与原文词义较为接近的译法，以便忠实地传达原诗的含义，也方便读者对照阅读。
《名人情书与爱情格言》取材于众多名人书信。书信的作者既有国王、政治家，如大名鼎鼎的拿破仑，也有著名的诗人、作家、音乐家、钢琴家和演员等等。每封情书所表达的感情都诚恳真挚，文笔也精彩流畅。本书在每封情书前，都给出了背景情况介绍，以便于读者理解。那些大都出自名人的爱情格言，不仅给人以美的享受，它们所蕴含的哲理更给人们带来深刻的启迪。
由于本丛书的篇幅有限，且受到人力与时间的限制，只能从篇帙浩繁的无数名家作品中，摘出一小部分精华加以翻译。在此过程中，虽然我们不惜精力，几次检查修改，但恐怕还有不完善和不当之处，敬请广大读者给予批评指正。
