^Norman R. Tyler, AICP, is director of the urban and regional planning program at Eastern Michigan University, a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and a registered architect. He serves on the board of the Michigan Historic Preservation Network and has taught at the University of Michigan and Penn State University.
