内容简介 Buddies, pals, keepers of secrets, givers of wedgies-brothers! Who but a brother could hoard all the donuts and protect and look up to you at the same time? Funny true-to-life photographs illustrate this portrait of five sets of real brothers, squabbling, wrestling, laughing, sharing, discovering, growing up side by side. Whether big, little, or in-the-middle, boys of all sorts are sure to find plenty of "hey, that's just like us!" moments to connect to and share.
Marci Curtis also created Big Sister, Little Sister, whose "eye-catching photographs capture moments of energy, creativity, and affection" wrote School Library Journal. "What is plain is the happiness coming off the pages . . . scenes that delight, moments of pure companionship to make other siblings smile," wrote Kirkus Reviews.
专业书评 From Booklist
K-Gr. 3. In a photo-essay bursting with spontaneity and good humor, Curtis captures several pairs of young brothers horsing around, helping one another with shoelaces, posing in costumes, playing pranks, sharing, and competing--but always obviously having a whale of a time. Her subjects, from twins to brothers roughly 10 years apart in age, appear mostly outdoors in sunny recreational settings, and come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Rhymed captions fill in background detail ("Big brother and I, adopted from the start / Though we're not blood brothers, we are brothers of the heart") or enhance the sense of fun ("Little brother, open wide! Worms taste just like chicken.") as they underscore the mutual affection and respect that binds the "buddies true and strong." Like its companion, Big Sister, Little Sister (2000), this can't help but generate smiles, laughter, and good feelings from children and parents alike. John Peters

From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 1–This book explores the moods and activities of five ethnically diverse pairs of brothers, including play, feelings, and sharing. Curtis's bright, colorfully photographed spreads evoke unforgettable moments; the rhyming text is punctuated by colored fonts and rebus-style symbols selected for key words. For example, the word "squished" is appropriately curved and crowded, and the word "bus" is printed on a yellow school-bus-shaped vehicle. Adopted brothers are included as well. Wherever the topic of brothers or siblings is explored, this title will be a reassuring vehicle to promote warm and positive relations.–Phyllis M. Simon, Bay Shore School District, NY
