In a book illustrated with a cornucopia of stories and the latest research on success, the authors reveal the strategies that helped them, and countless others, succeed at the highest levels in their careers and professions, and in their personal lives. They talk about the guts--the courage--necessary to take on tough challenges and not give up at the first sign of difficulty. They discuss the essential quality of resiliency. Everyone suffers setbacks in their careers and in life. The key, however, is to pick yourself up and bounce back. Drawing on the latest research in positive psychology, they discuss why optimists do better in school, work, and on the playing field--and how to reset that optimistic set point. They talk about industriousness, the notion that Malcolm Gladwell popularized with the 10,000-hour rule in his book Outliers. Creativity theorist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi believes it takes a minimum of 10 years for one's true creative potential to be realized. And the authors explore the concept of tenacity--the quality that allows us to remain focused and avoid distraction in order to get the job done--an increasingly difficult task in today's fragmented, cluttered, high-tech, connected world.
Written in the same short, concise format as The Power of Nice and leavened with the natural humor that characterizes Linda's and Robin's lives--and books--Grit to Great is destined to be the book everyone in business needs.

Grit to Great is well written motivational book that offers helpful ideas and insight to a wide audience. I gleaned several helpful tips from the book and it definitely gave me some things to think on. That being said, I find that the authors tried too hard in building their case that grit is what makes you great. I do not disagree that grit is a cornerstone to success, but I do not think it is the one attributable function that makes someone or a company great. Also, I would have liked to see more examples outside of the authors' own experiences. I would recommend this book, however I think if you are exploring this subject matter (i.e. success), get "Good to Great" by Jim Collins and "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell before this one.
I love this book! Nothing New in all the concepts ... but it is a book that NEEDED to be written ... to remind us, to tell us again how our life can truly be transformed. I've read and heard about many transformation formulas to improve one's life. But this book offers not the easiest nor the sexiest but rather the simplest but powerful truth on life transformation: Power of Perseverance & Passion = brings about Great Life Transformation. Everyone should have this book to read more than once. It is one of books I recommend to gift to your families and friends.
I'm halfway through the book and it answers questions I've had for some time. She takes the time to explain, with many examples, with information to back up her theory. It is difficult or at least bold to formulate and prove what she thinks the answer without other experts breaking it down to a half-baked idea. She is spot on because the wrinkling of the 'establishment' is hot on her heels!
This book reminds you of that simple truth: Winners win because they work harder than everyone else! Linda and Robin send a text directly to your brain. It's very motivating because you can start doing it right now - no matter who you are or where you are in life! Read it and you will buy 5 more to give to your kids, your niece, your co-workers.
Overpriced. There is no real information in this book. Lots of "grit to great" stories. Save your hard earned dollars.
