Many of the essays offer a glimpse into the corruption and power struggles inherent in the Chinese success story, and add insight into the world of Chinese business. Fields's voice conveys with authority the pro-business messages sprinkled throughout the work but fails to remove any of the dryness of the writing, a nearly impossible task given the technical aspects of the material. That said, the ups and downs of her melodic voice are enough to keep an interested listener tuned in to the weighty subject.
